Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices LIVE: Domestic equity market benchmarks Sensex and Nifty were higher in Tuesday’s session taking cues from their Asian peers which rallied after the US Federal Reserve announced unprecedented measures to support the economy which is reeling from the coronavirus pandemic. S&P BSE Sensex was trading 538 points or 2.11 per cent higher at 26,528, while the broader Nifty 50 index was ruling at 7,767 up 158 points or 2.07 per cent. As many at 22 stocks out of 30 Sensex stocks were trading in green, with HUL as the top gainer, up 8.19 per cent, followed by Infosys, Bajaj Finace and Sun Pharma. While ITC, Axis Bank and Titan were among the top laggards on the Sensex. Barring Nifty Media and Nifty Realty index, all the Nifty sectoral indices were trading higher, with Nifty Pharma index leading the rally, up 5 per cent. Similarly, Nifty IT index and Nifty FMCG index were also trading with gains, each up over 4 per cent.
Wall Street’s slide deepened on Monday as fast-spreading coronavirus forced more US states into lockdown. The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 3.04 per cent to end at 18,591.93 points, while the S&P 500 lost 2.93 per cent to 2,237.4. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.27 per cent to 6,860.67.
The coronavirus pandemic and the resulting lockdowns on Monday led a foreign brokerage to sharply cut India’s growth forecast for the next financial year starting April 1, to 4 per cent from the 5.1 per cent estimated earlier.In a note, UBS Securities said it expects India to clock a 4.8 per cent growth in FY20.
