President Donald Trump has met or exceeded discharge criteria after being treated for COVID-19, but is not “out of the woods” yet, his physician told reporters Monday.
Speaking at Walter Reed hospital in Bethesda, Md., Dr. Sean Conley said the president’s team supported his “safe return home, where he’ll be surrounded by world-class medical care 24/7.”
The White House doctor said if Trump’s team can get him through to Monday, they will take a “deep sigh of relief.”
Conley spoke to reporters shortly after Trump himself tweeted that he would be leaving the facility Monday evening.
“Feeling really good!” Trump said.
“Don’t be afraid of Covid,” he added. “Don’t let it dominate your life.”
The comment raised criticism on social media, as U.S. deaths from COVID-19 neared 210,000.
