Domestic equity benchmarks were trading with gains on Tuesday.

Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices LIVE: Sensex and Nifty were witnessing a volatile trading session on Tuesday. S&P BSE Sensex was trading with gains at 12:30 PM, up by over 200 points while the Nifty 50 was close to the 11,450 mark. Bharti Airtel shares surged to become the top Sensex gainers post the AGR dues verdict by the Supreme Court. On the other hand Vodafone Idea tanked 20% to hit the lower circuit. IndusInd Bank, after opening as on the top gainers on Sensex, dived to become one of the worst performing stock on the bourses. ONGC, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank were the other drags.

Hit by the lockdown in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, India’s economy contracted by 23.9%. The gross value added, which captures what accrues to the producer/service provider before a product or service is sold, shrank at an unheard-of rate of 22.8% in the first quarter. While manufacturing, Services, and construction declined, agriculture GVA was up 3.4%. India’s GDP growth figures are one of the worst among nations that have so far released the data.
