The actress’ rep confirmed to Us Weekly in September 2009 that the couple were set to adopt a baby from South Korea. The pair shared photos of their then-10-month-old daughter, Naleigh, later that month.

The 27 Dresses star hinted at her desire to expand her family in a June 2010 interview with Gala magazine. “We would love to have a second child, adopted or biological,” she said at the time. “We’re not ruling it out.” Her rep confirmed to Us in April 2012 that the parents had adopted a second daughter, Adalaide.

Kelley shared a pic with his girls on Instagram in February 2013. “I love my little chickadee’s,” he captioned the post. “Everyone keeps saying it goes by so fast so I’m gonna soak it up!!”

The proud parents beamed in matching Christmas pajamas with Naleigh and Adalaide in December 2014. “Merry Christmas from the Kelleys!!! The matching jammies tradition continues!!” she captioned the sweet Instagram pic. “We hope you all have a wonderful day filled with peace, love and joy!!”

Heigl gave birth to the duo’s third child, son Joshua Bishop, in January 2017. “With Adalaide, you know, we adopted her from birth, so we got that experience. Naleigh, we got her when she was 9 months old, so this obviously is our first time going through this,” Kelley told Us of the pregnancy in June 2016. “It’s exciting and super new.”

The Knocked Up star paid tribute to her husband by posting a photo of him and Joshua cuddling. “How @joshbkelley is finishing off his birthday, with sleepy snuggles from his namesake!” she wrote on Instagram in January 2017. “Could not be more grateful for this extraordinary man and for this extraordinary day that he was born! Happy Birthday to the sexiest, funniest, smartest, most talented, charming man I have ever met! Oh and he’s not too shabby in the Dad department either … is there ANYTHING the man can not do??!!!”

Joshua showed just how well he fit in with his big sisters in April 2017 when his mom shared a shot of the siblings cuddled up in bed together. “My morning snuggle buddies!” Heigl wrote on Instagram at the time. “My favorite way to start the day is with these three! #morningbliss #savoreverymoment #thoseheavenlydays.”

Heigl commemorated her and Kelley’s 12th wedding anniversary by sharing several loving photos of the pair, which was accompanied by a sweet tribute message. In her Instagram update, the actress noted that she was so “damn grateful” that the couple “found” each other. “Happy 12th anniversary [to the] love of my life. And thank you. For never wavering in your love, your loyalty,” she wrote in December 2019. “For being an endlessly blissful safe place to land. For raising a joy up in me that bursts forth in uninhibited raucous peals of laughter. Holy s–t do I love you! [I] am still madly in love with you. [I] am forever blessed by your love for me. Heigl shared a slideshow of photos with Adalaide in May 2020 following George Floyd’s death. “I can’t sleep,” the actress wrote. “And when I do, I wake with a single thought in my head. How will I tell Adalaide? How will I explain the unexplainable? How can I protect her? How can I break a piece of her beautiful divine spirit to do so? I can’t sleep. I lay in my bed in the dark and weep for every mother of a beautiful divine black child who has to extinguish a piece of their beloved baby’s spirit to try to keep them alive in a country that has too many sleeping soundly.”
